The Tuna Tournament is a fishing tournament held on the Rock River in Rockford, IL.  The Tuna Tournament is a one day annual event that involves police officers and fire fighters from the Rock River Valley Area.  The object is for a one boat team (two anglers per boat one of which must be a retired or active duty police officer or firefighter) to catch non-game fish, and the team with highest total weight is declared champion of the tournament.  At the end of the tournament, all participants enjoy dinner together after their day of fishing.  During that time, all sponsors are recognized and prizes are given out to participants.

The Tuna Tournament is a non-profit fundraiser that gives all proceeds to the Hat, Glove and Coat Program.  This program has provided hats, gloves, and coats to the children of the Rockford community for more than 20 years. The Tuna Tournament Chairmen hope to provide hats, gloves and coats to as many children as we can.
